Two new rules have been added. If you have an issue with them, please contact me. You can locate the rules by looking for a :target:

:new: I'm trying to get the show made into a group, I'm trying, but the group system seems to be running slow. I'll be waiting to upload more prizes till the group is made, that way they don't flood my gallery :giggle: Trying to get the group name: :devPD-Western-Show-Week:

Registration #s found here: fav.me/d6bldvi

Added another Extension, I am willing to work with you guys since I've been gone so long, but please read though and look for the :new: signs, as some things have been changed.

:new: For all cow events except bull riding, you may now chose which steer or calf you're using. However I ask you still list in your entry which steer you chose. Thank you!

Open for Registration! Class patterns are posted in my gallery if not linked below.

Welcome to the 2012 Painted Desert Western Show Week! This show will showcase the best and upcoming of the western industry, so be prepared for some horses you won't forget! We hope everyone gets a chance to attend, even if they don't have a horse to show, as this will be one for the record books! Prepare for big classes and even bigger prizes!

Attention! Foals out of my horses get a bonus 5 points in judging at this show in order to encourage foal owners to use their foals. So if you have a foal from me, be sure to bring them, especially ones undersaddle! This will also apply to starter horses that were sold as prospects from us. (you will be told if your horse qualifies upon registration), :new: these horses will have a A at the ending of their registration number, this does not have to appear on the entry, so the number you recieve minus the A at the end is the one you show on your entry. I'll have it in my records with that markings as who is who.

 Important Deadlines

 Facility Information

 •  Host: Painted Desert Ranch
 •  Location: Dry Creek, Nevada, United States of America
 •  Season: Winter :new: season will stay as winter!
 •  Facilities: See what arena your event is in (see "Schedule") then click the "Facility" link above.
 •  Stalling Arrangements: Over 200 stalls will be provided to competitiors. We turned one of our large climate-controled indoor arenas into a barn with portable stalls just for this show. Stall will be assigned during registration. You may keep your horse at your trailer in a pen there, but because it is winter and we won't have the best of weather this week, we recommend stalling them with us. More information on the stalls can be viewed under the Facilities link.
 •  Human Arrangements: People need to bring a camper or have a horse trailer with living quarters. If you feel you can handle the cold, feel free to bring a tent! Trailers/Camps will be in one of our large pastures up by the ranch for the duration of the show. Food will only be provided for supper. On Award Day (Day 7), Breakfest, Dinner and Supper will be served. If you have special eating arrangements please take care of that ahead of time.

For Roughstock Classes (Broncs and Bulls):

you will then get what bull/bronc you are on after registration for these classes.

 •  When submitting your Entry: In the artist's comments of anything relating to this show that'll count for points(including entries), please make sure ALL the above information used to register is provided and please be sure to add the following, :new:Rider and Rider Age, Links to any extra images (Opening Ceremony, Training, ect. or the entry if needed), the Story, and any other links you need to provide for the class. You must also add all 1st place wins your horse has had. You may add these up until when the show ends and I will count them to your score. Proof is required along with link to entry. To SUBMIT your entry, please comment on this journal page or the page for that specific day (see above header, Entries: -days-). Notes will not be responded to and will be immediatly deleted without reply. I can't have entries clogging my note box. I do ask that you check the entry journals after getting the "Added" comment from me, that way you can make sure all information is correct. This will be your responsibility to make sure I have your information correct. I will double check when I start judging but results will be up quicker with your help.

:target: Please create new art for this show. If you are found to be using old artwork in any part of your entry, you'll be placed last in your class. Remember there are "default" horses to keep people from doing the least amount of effort in order to attain a easy 1st place, so you'll be placed behind the default horses.

:target: 2nd new rule, commissioned trainings/extras will recieve half amount of bonus points as something drawn by the horse's owner. Entries commissioned will count for 3/4ths the original amount, so if the entry would have originally scored an 80, it'll then receive a 60. If you're leasing a horse, please contact me during registration. I'd like the art to be drawn by the horse's owner, hence this rule.
  •  All breeds of all ages are welcome! Any dangerous horses though will need to be stalled away from the rest of the competitiors.
 •  No Linearts. Tracing is okay. Always credit references.
 •  No photo backgrounds. Need to be drawn.
 •  Horse must be full body. Obstacles/Animals(a barrel or a steer, ect.) correct for that event are allowed to cover appropriate areas.
 •  IMPORTANT: The horse's # you were given at registration MUST be in the artist's comments of the entry and any additional images, this number must also be shown somewhere in the entry itself. If you can't put it on the rider or saddle pad, get creative, maybe have it like the show is on TV and the horse's name, number, ect. is on the screen.
 •  Rider/Handler must be shown. No limit on amount shown, however the more shown the more points you score. Exclusions to this rule are Costume, Liberty, Halter and Showmanship, otherwise handler must be shown! :new: Rider's must be at least 15 years of age, if you wanna use a younger rider, please lemme know and I'll consider approval.
  •  Clothing and Tack must be appropriate for event and clean! We don't want dirty tack or clothing. (see event description)
 •  No inspection pictures will be accepted for the last week before the show ends.
 •  Horse can only enter a event once. Riders may enter multiple times except in the following events: Boot Race, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding or Bull Riding.
 •  Please do only 1 entry every picture, so don't combine multiple entries in 1 upload.
 •  This show is judged on quality, there is very, very little random factor. However, each piece is judged based on that artist's past artwork. So make it your best!
 •  Any questions please comment on one of the show journals(depending on where your question lies), or shoot me a note. Or if I forgot something, please lemme know so I can add it ASAP.

 Classes

:pointr: Day 1 - All Wheels Rollin'; Speed Day.
 •  Western Halter; Stallions: Only for stallions 3 years and older. Must have clean western halter (any style halter accepted! Get one that fits your horse's look; if they're an old ranch horse, maybe a rope halter, or if they're a professional performance horse, a leather and silver halter, your choice!). If you have a horse that isn't stock, and you'd like to use a different halter, please ask before doing so. Handler does not have to be shown, but if they are, a appropriate shirt must be worn, jackets/button down shirts are optional. Jeans and Slacks are acceptable, no skirts or anything that goes above the ankle will be allowed. Must be western type attire, so if you want to play safe, use a show shirt and slacks, but so long as it's appropriate for a western halter class (meaning you don't have to look like you're going to a world show), it won't affect your score. Boots must be worn, no gloves/chaps allowed, belt is recommended, hats are optional. We are looking for a clean horse and handler, and a picture that shows off the conformation of that horse, which should be fitting to the breed standard. A Quarter Horse should not look like an Arabian.
 •  Western Halter; Get of Stallion: Must be 2-5 foals from the same stallion, preferably of the same breed and conformation. Do not include the stallion. If you have foals out of a real life stallion and wanna team up with someone else, that's fine. Get can be any age and gender. This is judged on the traits the stallion throws and the conformation of the foals. We are looking for a clean horses and handlers, and a picture that shows off the conformation of that horse, which should be fitting to the breed standard. A Quarter Horse should not look like an Arabian. The get should look similar but not identical. Color will not play a roll in this since there is such a wide variety of genes on here.
 •  Pole Bending: Horses must be at least 3 years old. Any western saddle and bridle is allowed, as well as any western tack so long as it's appropriate for the event (so you shouldn't have a rope on your saddle for instance, tie-downs and such are allowed). "Standard" 6 poles, 6 feet tall, set up 21 feet apart. Must run down, turn and weave up, turn and weave back down, and then turn and run home across the timers. Rider must be wearing an appropriate shirt that leaves no midriff showing and must have at least 3 inch "straps" across shoulders. We prefer long sleeve for protection, but it's optional to have a button-down. Jackets are allowed because of weather. Rider must wear appropriate fitting jeans or pants, a belt, and boots. Cowboy hats and other hats are recommended. All clothing should be clean and ready for exhibitation. Spurs, chaps and gloves are optional. Whips to be used at rider's discretion, overuse will result in disqualifcation. We recommend using leg protection on your horse but it's at rider's discretion. You may show any part of this event during the run (so while the clock is running, meaning your timers are started and not finished, so not before you run, not after your run, but during your run), and there must be at least 1 full pole in your picture other than the timing poles(do not have to be included at all). Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
 •  Figure 8/Stakes Race: Horses must be at least 3 years old. Any western saddle and bridle is allowed, as well as any western tack so long as it's appropriate for the event (so you shouldn't have a rope on your saddle for instance, tie-downs and such are allowed). For pattern see: [link] Rider must be wearing an appropriate shirt that leaves no midriff showing and must have at least 3 inch "straps" across shoulders. Whips to be used at rider's discretion, overuse will result in disqualifcation. We recommend using leg protection on your horse but it's at rider's discretion. You may show any part of a turn, either entering, during or leaving the turn and heading to the next-meaning it doesn't have to be the actual turn itself, and therefore must have at least 1 full pole in your picture other than the timing poles(do not have to be included at all). Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
 •  Single Stake: Horses must be at least 3 years old. Any western saddle and bridle is allowed, as well as any western tack so long as it's appropriate for the event (so you shouldn't have a rope on your saddle for instance, tie-downs and such are allowed). There will be 1 pole set up at the end of the arena, all you must do is go between the timers, run down, turn the pole and run home between the timers. •  Bow-Tie: Horses must be at least 3 years old. Any western saddle and bridle is allowed, as well as any western tack so long as it's appropriate for the event (so you shouldn't have a rope on your saddle for instance, tie-downs and such are allowed).  •  Speed Barrels: Horses must be at least 3 years old. Any western saddle and bridle is allowed, as well as any western tack so long as it's appropriate for the event (so you shouldn't have a rope on your saddle for instance, tie-downs and such are allowed).
